Filter the world's cities

Stack filters across cost, safety, climate, quality of life and amenities like mosques, restaurants and hospitals. Dots run red → green for the metric you color by. Use ‘Find links’ to see how any two factors relate.

How to use the map

  • Color by any metric to shade every city red (worse) to green (better).
  • Add filters or tap a preset like “Muslim-friendly” or “Safe & affordable” to narrow the map to cities that match.
  • Find links cross-plots two metrics and shows the correlation between them.
  • Click any city for its stats and a link to the full profile.

Frequently asked

How do I find cities that match several criteria at once?

Add as many filters as you like — for example safety above 60, cost of living below 90 and at least 5 mosques. The map and results update instantly to show only cities that match every filter.

Can I see how two factors relate?

Yes. Open the ‘Find links’ tab, pick any two metrics, and STATLAS plots them and computes a correlation so you can see, for instance, whether safer cities are also more expensive.

Where does the data come from?

Geography and climate from GeoNames and Open-Meteo, economic and social indicators from the World Bank, amenities (mosques, restaurants, hospitals and more) from OpenStreetMap, and STATLAS modeled cost, safety and quality-of-life indices.
